    Before the Beetlechair became the sidekick to The Beetle, it was a member of the circus. He was part of a trapeze act that also included his parents, an ottoman and a lawn chair. Then, one night, as they were performing their act, tragedy struck! Someone cut the ropes, sending the Beetlechair's parents crashing down to their deaths. The Beetlechair could only stand by, helpless, as it watched this grisly spectacle. Present at the circus that night was The Beetle, who felt sorrow for the Beetlechair. He decided to make the Beetlechair his ward and teach it the ways of crime fighting.
